Direct, clear, immediate – that is AKUT

In a world characterized by speed, change and crises, acute action is becoming increasingly important. It describes the urgency of a moment in which decisions have to be made and action taken – be it in medicine, politics, social politics, in social issues, in the personal environment or in photography. Often a fraction of a second is enough to set the focus and press the shutter release.

The photographers in the Freelens Rhine-Main regional group are picking up on this dynamic and initiate an exhibition entitled “AKUT”, which takes a photographic look at their region of Frankfurt Rhine-Main region photographically, scrutinizing and reflecting on it. This exhibition is aimed at all those who want to engage with the intensity of the moment and deal with current, relevant issues – on a large and small scale.

With this exhibition, we are accompanying the year 2026, when Frankfurt Rhine-Main will become the World Design Capital, and are actively participating in the discourse on the shaping of social coexistence, democracy and design.

The exhibition will be shown in Haus am Dom, a central location for urban and social exchange. The Freelens regional group Rhine-Main has already successfully presented exhibitions here in the past. The Haus am Dom is located in the middle of Frankfurt city center, between the Römer and the cathedral, in direct proximity to the Fotografieforum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Schirn and other museums. Admission is free, and the museum offers a varied accompanying program with lectures and events that are thematically coordinated with the exhibition.

This location makes the exhibition accessible – for specialist audiences as well as for spontaneous visitors, art enthusiasts and visitors to the city. In this way, a broad
public is reached.
