Columbus McKinnon is partnering with United Way and WE AID not only to empower CMCO employees to make a difference in the communities where they live and work, but also to drive focus on the impact that even a small campaign such as ours can have on helping provide essential resources to those in need. In 2024, our campaign will focus on selected youth empowerment and education projects. Our goal is to support children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds and help them succeed in life. Much like our purpose here at CMCO, together we can move the world forward and improve lives.
Selected Projects:
LifeTeachUs is a non-profit educational organization that uses the 1 million lost lessons per week in Germany to bring a wide variety of people into the school day. This gives students valuable insights into different areas of society. In this way, we improve educational opportunities and support disadvantaged children. Whether through donations or sharing our mission – any support helps.
The non-profit organization JOBLINGE helps young people from difficult social backgrounds into apprenticeships at over 30 locations across Germany. Young people who are unable to take the first step into working life on their own due to their social background, poor educational qualifications, lack of network or lack of prospects. In the 6-month JOBLINGE program, participants go through various stages of vocational qualification: they receive individual support and advice, train for job interviews and strengthen social skills. At the end of the program, 80% of participants obtain an apprenticeship contract. JOBLINGE has already made a measurable difference in the lives of more than 15,000 young people.
HANDS on TECHNOLOGY e.V. supports children and young people aged 4 to 16 in the fields of science and technology through the STEM education program FIRST LEGO League. Working in teams, they engage in exciting research and robotics projects, gaining essential STEM skills in a playful way. They enhance their problem-solving strategies, tap into their creativity, and develop teamwork—key qualifications for their future. Your support helps us expand our educational initiatives and ensure that children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds can also benefit from the FIRST LEGO League.
ROCK YOUR LIFE! supports young people in recognizing their potential, strengths and talents, finding their professional direction, and successfully mastering the transition from school to work with the help of mentoring and training. Students and professionals volunteer as mentors – either locally on site or virtually for young people in rural areas. Since 2008, we have guided more than 30,000 participants at 20 locations in Germany through the program. Furthermore, a long-term study shows the enormous positive effects of our work: from improved grades in school and great opportunities for personal development to disadvantages on the labor market that are completely leveled out for disadvantaged youth.
